Revolutionary woman in architecture and design - Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid, born in Baghdad in the 1950s, always harbored a desire to become an architect despite there being few women in the field during her formative years. After graduating from the Mathematics Faculty of the "Beirut American University," she pursued architecture education at the "Architectural Association School" in London in 1972, initiating the realization of her dreams.
Subsequently, in 1980, Zaha Hadid established her own architecture firm in “London and began teaching at international institutes”, notably at the "Architectural Association," later extending her instruction to the "Graduate School of Design" at “Harvard University” and other influential institutions.
"The synthesis of mathematics and architecture is one of the crucial reasons behind the most significant success and style. Being the first woman to intertwine these two fields to create something extraordinary is not an easy feat!
Zaha Hadid emphasized that she always draws inspiration from nature through parametric design in all her projects. This love for art and architecture through her connection with other domains helped her capture the attention of people from various fields.
A design icon that revolutionized architecture In 2008, her name was mentioned in Forbes magazine's "100 most influential women" list. Her unique style, distinctive features, and innovative approach to architecture made her a design icon. Zaha Hadid's name was written in golden letters because she was a woman who challenged the conservative rules in architecture. She's also recognized as the first and only woman awarded the "Pritzker" Prize, often considered the Nobel Prize in architecture circles.
Many of Zaha Hadid's renowned projects are famous worldwide. Some of her notable constructions include the ”Vitra Fire Station, Mind Zone, Landesgartenschau 1999, Rosenthal Contemporary Arts Center, Szervita Square Column, Bergisel Ski Jump, Galaxy Soho, Innovation Tower, Riverside Museum, London Aquatics Centre, Chanel Mobile Art” Contemporary Pavilion, and many more."
How was concrete processed?
In 1993, the Vitra Fire Station, designed by Zaha Hadid, became her first realized project. Using precast concrete, the project features distinct, highly intriguing designs with clear lines. The fire station at Vitra was particularly notable for embodying the influence of the deconstructivist movement.
She also left her mark in Azerbaijan. Over the years, Zaha Hadid became known for designing buildings that were both original and organic in their architecture. The design of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku bears her signature.
The building of the center has a flat surface, as if water flows over it. Mountain-like ridges are added to this form, which not only serves a decorative function but also smoothens navigation within the building. Thanks to this form, the boundary between the building and the surrounding landscape disappears. People don’t just see this center as a building; it captivates attention as part of Baku's landscape.
Zaha Hadid considered the Heydar Aliyev Center one of her main projects. The center's design, which utilizes ornamental and Islamic architectural styles, was honored with the "Design of the Year" award by the Design Museum in Britain in 2014.
Examining her signature constructions, getting acquainted with her designs, and reviewing the architectural details she emphasized in construction structures truly reflects her extraordinary skills.
Zaha Hadid passed away suddenly on March 31, 2016, without being able to fulfill her desire to build a mosque in Istanbul."
